Silicone foam dressing is an absorbent, atraumatic dressing made from an absorbent core and silicone gel. The wound contact surface is coated with a layer of soft silicone gel that does not stick to the wound bed or cause trauma to delicate new tissue upon removal.

The soft silicone layer is slightly tacky, facilitating application and retention to intact skin without causing epidermal stripping or pain on removal. The outer surface is bonded to a vapor-permeable polyurethane membrane, acting as a barrier to liquids and microorganisms.

Two types are available: with border and without border. The bordered version consists of three components: a thin sheet of polyurethane foam, nonwoven fabric, and a layer of superabsorbent fibers to lock in exudate and prevent maceration.
