Hydrocolloid Wound Dressing Ultra Thin with Self-Adhesive
Hydrocolloid dressing is a special kind of wound dressing used in the treatment of mildly exuding wounds, like minor burns or bed sores. These dressings are waterproof, and unlike simpler dressings, they provide a moist and insulating environment to promote wound healing.
The inner layer of gel-forming agents includes carboxymethylcellulose, gelatin, and pectin. This promotes healing by absorbing exudate while maintaining a moist environment, which leads to faster healing and reduced scar formation.
The outside waterproof layer shields the wound from bacteria and debris. These dressings can be left in place for up to a week, making them convenient for long-term care and pediatric use due to painless removal.
1. Cleanse the wound with appropriate wound cleanser. Cleanse and dry the periwound skin.
2. Choose a dressing large enough to cover the wound with 2cm of overlap on all sides.
3. Remove the back paper to expose the adhesive surface.
4. Center the dressing over the wound, press from the center outward, and hold for 30 seconds.
